*All Superfalls Centrifugal pumps (except for the low head plus models), can be installed to discharge in any of 4 directions for ease of installation. Install to discharge left, right, up, or down as needed. No longer do you have to glue on elbows at the pump outlet. 

Now all Superfalls low head pumps (except for the low head plus models), can easily be upgraded to increase or decrease flow rates to 47, 67, 87, or even up to 183 gpm with the new super quiet and efficient motor. Purchase the pump with the flow you need now and if you need more flow later, order a larger wet end to easily increase the flow. This simple modification can be done by anyone by loosening 4 bolts, rotating the pump, and re-tightening the bolts. If preferred, The Pond Shop will make the conversion at low cost. 

Superfalls 1/10 hp low head pumps are wired for 115 volts with a cord and plug. The new lower energy 1/4 hp model, comes wired with cord and plug for 115 volts (as shipped), but can easily be changed to 230 volts if desired! This allows you to plug them into a heavy duty extension cord for emergency operation (power supplied by generator upon loss of normal power). Most other pumps must be "hard wired" and are operated at 230 volts, making them unusable upon loss of normal power. Medium head pumps with discharge pressures to 45 foot (20 psi) or more are available for higher pressure applications. Superfalls 2-speed pumps are also available in sizes to 5 horse power. Superfalls low head pumps are among the quietest pumps available today!

KOI JOY'S "SUPERPOND" 1 INCH MANIFOLDS for PUMP SUCTION AND DISCHARGE SP 

Use these manifolds with the appropriate barbed male adapters for the perfect way to direct water from a submersible pump to several different locations. Connect the pump to a barbed male adapter (screw it onto the right side of the manifolds shown) and then direct the flow to several different fountains through additional barbed male adapters screwed into the different ports at the bottom of each manifold shown below. You can even screw ball valves into the ports to control the flow into each of the barbed male adapter screwed into them.

KOI JOY'S "SUPERPOND" 2 INCH MANIFOLDS for PUMP SUCTION AND DISCHARGE SP 

Now we have made it simple to install manifolds on the suction and the discharge of your centrifugal pumps! Now you can easily install manifolds on the suction of your pump for two or three (or more) leaf traps, skimmers, or bottom drains, leading to one or more pumps. Then, you can just as easily install a manifold on your pumps discharge to direct its flow to as many different locations as wanted, ie. filters, uv sterilizers, waterfalls, winter bypasses, etc.

Our small basic manifold, model 10-man230, allows you to assemble all of the manifolds offered below, or you can order the manifold pre-assembled to your specifications. The 10-man230 has one spg port which allows a standard pvc fitting to slip over it, and has three slip fittings for 2" pvc pipe. This allows installation of any of the standard pvc fittings including the ones offered below.

Two of the 10-man230 manifolds can be glued together to form a manifold with 4 slip ports and two spg ports. Place one or more 2" tees between the two manifolds to form additional slip ports as shown in the sample manifolds illustrated below.

SUPERFALLS KJ11000LHC LOW HEAD

Choose the KJ11000LH model for all sizes of ponds. For smaller ponds, reduce the flow as needed with the 2" flow control valve provided at no charge. This model of pump has a shut off head (elevation of no flow) of 18 feet. Use the KJ11000LH with total head pressures up to 14 ft or less. See flow curve below.

SUPERFALLS KJ13000LHP-T LOW HEAD PLUS!

Select a KJ9,000LHP or a KJ13,000LHP model for those large ponds with higher than normal waterfalls, or bead filters or other filters which have high back pressure. The shut-off head (elevation of no flow) on these pumps is the highest available for a low head pump, 27 ft. Select a low head plus when total head is more than 14 feet and less than 22-23 ft. SUPERFALLS LOW HEAD CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS: KOI JOY has energy efficient centrifugal pumps available in our exclusive 47 -183 gpm series of Super-Energy-Efficient (low head) pumps. These pumps are extremely energy efficient, with GPA (gallons/amp) efficiency ratings of 20-45. This means that when you select one of our Superfalls pumps for your pond, aquaculture system, lap pool, or any other water recirculating system, you will get the maximum flow possible at the lowest operating cost possible! Our KJ11000LH model draws less current and pumps more water than almost any other pond pump available. And best of all, this model is flow adjustable with the 2 inch flow control valve that comes with the pump! This pump is truly a one pump fits all ponds! Low head pumps such as these are perfect for use from 0-14 ft head and flow can be reduced to make any waterfall look and sound perfect!

SUPERFALLS LOW HEAD PLUS CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS: As great as the low head pumps are, there are some pressures or heights where even the largest model cannot pump. Higher pressure filters such as bead filters, sand filters, and extremely long pipe runs, or high waterfall may call for our KJ9000LHP or even the larger KJ13000LHP models. These energy efficient pumps offer high flow rates with pressures high enough to operate almost any type of bio-filter. The Tiny Mite has a shut-off head of approx. 20 ft, while the larger models (47 gpm - 183 gpm) have a shut off head of up to18 ft. Used for recirculating water for ponds and operating low head waterfalls, these pumps can't be beat for efficient, quiet, reliable operation.

Our Iron Might pumps are a big hit when you don't necessarily need the biggest pump, and can get by with 1 1/2 inch inlet and outlets. The 10-3000LHC Iron Might puts out almost 3000 gph or 50 gpm flow at 1.3 amps. The pump operates on 115 volts, is supplied with cord and plug, and comes with two 1 1/2'' unions for the inlet and outlet. Large leaf trap 10-LFT6IM is available for this pump. One year warranty on this energy efficient pump.

Power Supply-  The lower flow models of Superfalls LH pumps are wired to run at 115 volts and are supplied with a 6 ft cord and plug. They are so energy efficient that it isn't necessary to run them at 230 volts. Our pumps can be unplugged from the outlet and run on an extension cord (heavy duty) or portable generator, etc. making them always ready for emergency power. Our most efficient 1/4 hp models of Superfalls LH pump, with flows ranging to 183 gpm, can be run on 115 volts or 230 volts.

 Koi Joy's 2-speed medium head pumps are perfect for applications which require higher pressure and flow rates occasionally and lower pressures and flows at other times. A good example is for use with bead filters or Predator Bio-Filters which need higher pressures during the back-wash cycle. See below.

 Exclusive feature - Full 360 degree output- Only Superfalls LH pumps can be easily rotated on the motor to allow the pump's discharge to be directed as desired - up, down, left, or right for ease of installation. Properly directed flow reduces resistance, elbows, pipe length, etc. As with conversion above, it only requires that the owner loosen 4 bolts, rotate the pump on the motor, and tighten the bolts.

Higher Flows at higher elevations up to 20-23 ft. Low Head Plus provides high flow rates for waterfalls at high elevations where you used to have to use medium head pumps. Select a Low Head Plus pump anytime your total head loss is more than 14 ft. Flow curves above show flow from pumps with leaf traps. When ordered with out leaf traps, flow increases approx. 15%.

Highest shut off head for a low head energy efficient pump! With a shut off head (point of no flow) of 27 ft, you can still have high flow with an energy efficient pump, saving lots of money in operating costs all year long. Largest leaf trap and inlet for higher flows and less trap cleaning! This priming pot has a clear lid and measures almost 15 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches around making this the largest trap available on a pond pump. Our large priming pot or leaf trap and basket have 3-4 times the volume of standard leaf traps which mean less cleaning even under abnormally dirty conditions. The large priming pot on the KJ6000LHP-T and the KJ9000LHP-T models have a 2" inlet and outlet, and after initially filling your system, you don't have to worry about loss of prime. It's built in check valve prevents water from flowing backwards into the pond when power is interrupted. The KJ13,000LHP-T model has a 3" inlet in it's leaf trap and a huge stainless steel basket for highest flows of over 200 gpm when using the leaf trap, or up to 230 gpm without the leaf trap!

How much energy (and money) can I save? 

Utility Electrical cost per kwhr

This table shows annual costs or savings in kwhr and dollars when one pump is replaced with another more efficient pump. Compare old pump vs. new pump to determine the difference in amps. Locate your utility rate at left, then move over to the column that reflects your amp difference, to determine your annual savings.

To determine annual operating cost, use the column with the amps of the pump in use, go down to the row which corresponds to your utility rate to find annual operating cost of your pump at 115 volts (double this amount if pump is operating at 230volts).

 Note: To use this table for pumps running on 230 volts, you must double the amps to convert to amps at 115 volts. example: You are replacing a pump which draws 12 amps at 230 volts (12 x 2 = 24 amps at 115 volts), with one which draws 6 amps at 230 volts (6 x 2 = 12 amps at 115 volts). You will use the 12 amp column (24 amps - 12 amps = 12 amps) to determine your savings. If your utility rate is $0.25 per kwhr, you would save approximately $3,030 per year. Just remember to double the amps on any motor that runs on 230 volts to accurately determine the kwhr and dollar savings from this table.

amps - electrical current required to operate motor and carry load, normally stamped on motor. Can be used to compare efficiency of one motor vs. another as long as both operate at same voltage, ie. 115 volts or 230 volts. To use table above, double the amps on any motor running at 230 volts.

watts, kilowatts - Actual power used by motor or equipment to perform work, such as moving large amounts of water from one place to another. Watts can be calculated by:  amps x volts = watts or 1 amp x 115 volts = 115 watts. Note that kilo means thousand and therefore, one kilowatt-hour (amount of electricity we are actually charged for by our utility company) is one thousand watts for one hour. In the above example, changing pumps to one which saves one amp, would save you 1,150 watts or 1.15  kwhr over a 10 hour period. Amount of dollar savings depends on what you pay to your utility as shown on left of table above.

horsepower - a power rating for the motor which describes the power capability of the motor, not necessarily the power being produced. A 1/4 hp motor can be coupled to a small pump and may only be performing the work of a 1/10 hp (or even smaller) motor. The important thing is that the motor is large enough to handle the work required, but not too large as to consume too much energy such as is the case with most pond or pool pumps. Your energy savings will pay for your new Superfalls TM pumps!

Warranty- All Superfalls and Tiny Might pumps are guaranteed to perform as advertised for one year from date of purchase (Our new 1/4 hp model of low head centrifugal pumps guaranteed for 2 years from date of purchase). This is the standard warranty offered by most reputable manufacturers. An extended warranty is available from the Pond Shop for those who feel more comfortable with longer warranties for an additional $50 per year. This offer is available at time of original purchase, and must be pre-paid at that time. 
 

20 gpm   10-1200LH Tiny Might puts out 1150 gph or almost 20 gpm flow at 0.9 amps (less than 100 watts) for a GPA of 21.6. The Tiny Might has a 1/16 hp, 115 volt motor with 3' cord. The pump has 1" inlet/outlet ports and also comes furnished with two 1" unions. The Tiny Might even has an optional leaf trap available. The 10-LFT006 fits the Tiny Might and protects the pump against possible damage due to operation with loss of flow.
New! 50 gpm 10-3000LHC Iron Might puts out almost 3000 gph or 50 gpm flow at 1.3 amps. The pump has 1 1/2 '' inlet/outlet ports and comes with two 1 1/2'' unions. 115 volts with cord and plug.
67 gpm Our Superfalls 10-4000LHC puts out an amazing 4000 gph (67 gpm) at only 2.2 amps (at 1' head)! That is an amazing 28 gpm for every amp (28 GPA) used. These low energy pumps use 1/4 hp motors coupled to our special pumps with large impellers to achieve high flows of 67 gpm. This pump beats the competition in purchase cost and energy savings. This pump has a shutoff head of 14 ft and therefore should be used for low head applications. At 5 ft head, the10-4000LHC will still deliver an amazing 58 gpm at only 2.2 amps. 2" inlets and outlets.
87 gpm The Superfalls 10-5000LHC is a good pump for ponds to 5000 gallons or to 10,000 gallons when two pumps are used. It puts out an amazing 5000 gph or more than 87 gpm at 1 ft head. 2" inlets and outlets.

This curve shows the high flows available with the newest of the Superfalls low amp pumps. Our new model of pump uses a low energy 1/4 hp motor which can be run on 115 volts (as shipped) or on 230 volts if desired. This quiet and efficient motor can be used on the KJ7000LH pump to increase its capabilities.

Our medium head pump model SUPERFALLS 10-7000MH uses a 3/4 hp motor to allow a high flow of 7000 gph (115 gpm) at higher pressures. These pumps use less electricity swimming pool or irrigation pumps used by some pond owners and can pay for themselves in energy savings in as little as 6-12 months. At an average monthly cost of $140 / amp / year (charges are actually based on kilowatt-hrs), most consumers can save thousands of dollars by replacing their existing pumps with these energy misers. The 10-7000MH is available in single speed, medium head  or as 10-7000MH-2S (2 speed, medium and low head) for higher efficiency operation.

The high capacity, low head pumps are ideal for up-flow filters, waterfalls, or any high flow recirculation system that doesn't require high pressure. For higher pressure requirements, choose our 3/4 hp SUPERFALLS 10-7000MH. or other higher rated pumps as shown below. Pumps 10-3000LHC thru 10-8000MH are supplied pre-wired with 115 volt cords and plugs, and are furnished with two slip fit unions for easy installation and removal. The model 10-9000MH is available in 115 volt models without cord or plug (have your electrician hard wire or connect the cord for you). 10-9000MH is also available in 230 volt version. All medium head single speed pumps thru 10-125KMH must be wired for 230 Volts, and are shipped without cords or plugs. All pumps (except for the10-1200LH with 1") have 2" inlets and outlets for highest possible performance. Replace your old pump with one or two of these energy misers and get more water for less money.

2 speed medium head pumps are available for use with Predator and other bio-filters which may require high pressure and flows for adequate backwash. Use the low speed for the same energy efficient operation as our low head pumps. 2 speed switches are built into the back of the pump motor for ease of operation.

Our 115 volt pumps (up to 10-8000MH) come pre-wired with a 6 ft, 115 volt cord and plug, and include two slip unions at no extra charge (10-9000MH and all 230 volt pumps do not come pre-wired). Leaf traps for these pumps or any other pump are available for $59.99 each. These large 6" traps have a clear plastic top with large "O" ring for positive seal and are easily opened and closed. The LT-6 has a 2" inlet and 2" outlet. When used with the 10-1200LH, the inlet & outlet must be reduced to 1" with reducers supplied.

SOME BASICS ABOUT PUMPS AND GPA RATINGS 

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PUMP! 

To select the proper pump for your pond, first determine whether you would like a submersible pump or a centrifugal pump. We normally recommend SuperFalls centrifugal pumps for efficiency, reliability (longer life), and ease of maintenance. 

Next, determine the total head losses that your pump will have to overcome. The total head losses are equal to the combination of the static head height (elevation in feet that the water must be pumped to above the pond's surface), and the line and hardware head losses (additional discharge pressure required of the pump to overcome long piping losses, or pressure filter losses, etc). Together these will decide the pressure range that the pump must be able to put out, ie low head, medium head or high head (keep in mind that the annual cost of operating a medium head or high head pump will greatly exceed it's initial purchase cost). A low head pump operates best when the total head losses are less than 6-7 ft. If you are only pumping water from your pond to a filter or waterfall which is 2-4 foot above the surface of the pond, and your piping runs are not to long, are 2" or greater, you should plan on using a low head pump. If your system requires a pump which can overcome 10 or more feet of total head losses, plan on using a medium head pump. 

Note: Head losses may be reduced by use of larger diameter pipe (2-3"), shorter lengths and less turns in the pipe, avoiding unnecessary heights, fittings, and any pressure filters. Use only pumps with 2" inlets and outlets. 

Now determine the required flow rate by for your pond. Normally we recommend that you recirculate your pond's water once each 1/2 hour to hour to assure that you have enough water movement to remove particulates and solids from your pond for retention in your filtration system. For really large ponds of 10,000 gallons or more, it may be necessary to recirculate your water less often. Once you have determined the desired flow rate, we suggest that you consider reaching that flow with two or more pumps instead of one, for reliability and insurance reasons. 

Where practical, select a pump which operates at the voltage available at the location where it will be installed, usually 115 volts. For ease of installation, select a pump which is wired for 115 volts with a cord ready to plug into an outlet. 

Finally, determine the type of centrifugal pump required by going through the 3 options below.

Major Differences Between Centrifugal Pump Types:

 

LOW HEAD

Generates useful pressures to 10 ft of water pressure (4-5 psi).

A low head pump may not be very effective in backwashing certain sand type filters (Predators and some others) which require higher pressures and flows for backwash cycle.

Use a medium head pump when pumping to a waterfall more than 10 feet above the ponds' surface. You can also use a low head pump when pumping through low head filters (Aquadyne, mat filters, large open type filters, etc.).

Most efficient type

 

MEDIUM HEAD

Generates useful pressures to 30-35 ft of water pressure (12-15 psi).

If pump is medium head, while effective in backwash cycle, it may not be energy efficient during majority of use.

Use a medium head pump when you must pump to higher elevations, pump the water through sand filters or other filters which require high pressure.

 

 

Least efficient, most power

TWO SPEED

Operates as both low head and medium head pumps. When higher flow and pressure is required, as for filter backwash, the pump is switched into a higher speed.

When such pressure is not required, the pump is switched back to the lower speed to benefit from it's greater energy efficiency. Superfalls 2 speed pumps deliver maximum efficiency during low speed operation, and maximum power at high speed.

The 1 hp 10-8KMH2S operates with the same flow/pressure characteristics as the single speed 1 hp medium head version when at high speed, and the energy efficient 10-4000LH when at low speed. More info
